Manchester Terrier Bites Passenger and Flight Attendant on US Airways Flight
A US Airways flight from Newark, NJ headed for Phoenix made an unexpected stop in Pittsburgh Monday, when a dog aboard the flight got loose and bit a passenger and flight attendant.
Mandy, a 12- pound Manchester terrier got agitated during the flight after her tranqualizer wore off. When her 89-year old owner tried to comfort the petite pooch by opening the door to the approved carrier, she bolted. The passenger sitting next to her was bit when trying to help stop the dog. Mandy ran down the aisle, and that is when the flight attendant, trying to catch the dog was also bitten.
As a saftey precaution, the pilot of the aircraft decided to divert to Pittsburgh. Mandy and Granny were removed from the plane and placed on a later flight to Phoenix.
The bites were not serious, and no charges were filed.
